Composed after the invitation of Totem Contemporain, Paradigmas is a a piece of gestures and shapes. For a very odd reason I was thinking of Jules Verne’s Voyage au Centre de la Terre, though the book is really distant from what Totem Contemporain’s instruments evoke at first hearing. The savageness, organicity and violent material struck me and I immediately thought of the book. This piece dives through several layers of dense material, stones, wind and ice. Mouvements are broken, amalgamated, diffracted and noise is everywhere. Paradigmas fully embraces it’s industrial, acousmatic and contemporary music references. It’s an invitation to observe imaginary material and feel its’ asperities. And in a very strange way, a chant emerges.

Composée à l’invitation de Totem Contemporain Paradigmas est une pièce de gestes, de figures. Pour une raison très étrange j’avais en tête le Voyage au centre de la Terre de Jules Verne, pourtant assez distant de ce que les instruments de Totem Contemporain me proposait par nature. Leur côté sauvage, organique, violent et matiéré a de suite résonné et m’ont relié à ce livre. Cette pièce traverse plusieurs états, des couches de matières denses, roches, pierres, mais aussi vents, glace. Le geste est brisé, amalgamé, diffracté et le bruit constant. Paradigmas assume résolument les références aux musiques industrielles mais aussi acousmatiques et contemporaines. Elle est une invitation à observer ces matières imaginaires et en sentir les aspérités. Et d’une étrange façon un chant émerge.
